MAWB Directory Member Spotlight – For Linda Barnett, beautiful things have never been just beautiful things.
A thoughtfully chosen necklace can make someone stand a little taller. A beautifully wrapped gift can make someone feel remembered. A perfectly set teacup can turn an ordinary conversation into a meaningful moment.
That belief — that the little things can make people feel special — has been at the heart of Linda’s entrepreneurial journey from the very beginning.
Today, Linda is the woman behind The Travelling TeaRoom Boutique, but her story began with a love of hospitality, creating beautiful experiences and making people feel genuinely welcomed.
In three words, Linda describes herself as: Creative. Authentic. Inspiring.
And all three are woven throughout the business she has built.

Where It All Began: A Love of Hospitality
In 2015, Linda founded The Travelling TeaRoom, bringing the elegance and experience of Afternoon Tea to women throughout the community.
It was a natural extension of something Linda had always loved.
“Hospitality is my love language.”
She loves setting a beautiful table, serving Afternoon Tea and creating an environment where people feel comfortable enough to slow down, connect and enjoy being together.
But before The Travelling TeaRoom became a reality, Linda had to overcome something familiar to many entrepreneurs: the question of whether she could actually do it.
She had dreamed about starting this kind of business for years. Then something shifted. Linda realized that the fear of never trying had become greater than the fear of failing. So she chose to believe in herself, took the leap and decided to see where the journey would lead.
“That decision changed my life.”
From Afternoon Tea to The Travelling TeaRoom Boutique
As Linda grew, so did her business. She discovered that what she loved most wasn’t simply hosting an event or selling a product. It was the moment when a woman found something that made her feel good about herself. Whether Linda was serving Afternoon Tea, helping someone select the perfect necklace or finding just the right handbag, she loved seeing someone leave feeling more confident than when she arrived.
That became the heart of her business.
Today, The Travelling TeaRoom Boutique offers a thoughtfully curated collection of limited-edition jewellery, handbags, scarves, fashion accessories, loose-leaf teas, tea gifts, teaware and lifestyle pieces.
Linda also provides personal styling suggestions, curated gift ideas and seasonal collections. But she doesn’t see herself as simply selling beautiful things. She sees herself as helping women celebrate themselves.

Helping Women Discover Their Inner Sparkle
Linda believes every woman deserves to feel beautiful, confident and appreciated. That philosophy influences everything she chooses for the boutique and every interaction she has with a customer. Whether someone is buying something for herself or searching for a meaningful gift, Linda wants the experience to feel personal.
Her customers appreciate that she takes time to listen and help them choose something that genuinely reflects their personality and style. “It’s about building relationships, not simply making sales.”
Linda hopes every woman who visits her boutique feels seen and valued — and perhaps even feels encouraged to step slightly outside her comfort zone. Sometimes, she believes, all it takes is the right accessory. Something that makes you stand a little taller. Smile a little brighter. And remember how beautiful you already are.
“If I can help a woman feel more confident in herself, then I’ve accomplished far more than making a sale.”
When Everything Changed
Like so many small business owners, Linda faced an enormous challenge when COVID arrived.
Almost overnight, the way she connected with her customers had to change. For a business rooted so deeply in personal connection and experiences, it could easily have felt like the end. Linda decided it wouldn’t be. Instead, she saw an opportunity to evolve. She expanded The Travelling TeaRoom Boutique, embraced online retail and began learning new technology.
Social media. Email marketing. Digital communication. Online selling. Much of it required Linda to step far outside her comfort zone. And the learning hasn’t stopped. Technology and digital marketing continue to change, but Linda has learned that staying curious and being willing to adapt are essential parts of entrepreneurship.
More importantly, the experience showed her something about herself. She was far more resilient than she realized. “When you truly love what you do, you don’t simply give up when circumstances change — you find another way forward.”
Challenges stopped looking quite so much like roadblocks. Instead, they became opportunities to reinvent, learn and keep moving toward the dream she had believed in from the beginning.
A TeaRoom, a Garden and a Confidence-Building Chapter
There have been many memorable moments throughout Linda’s business journey, but one chapter remains particularly special.
Hosting Afternoon Tea experiences at the Royal Botanical Gardens gave Linda an opportunity to welcome guests into beautiful surroundings and create exactly the kind of memorable experience she envisioned when she started her business. Guests returned year after year. They told her how much they enjoyed the experience. And something important happened along the way: Linda began to believe even more deeply in herself and the business she had created.

That confidence helped give her the courage to continue evolving. Today, some of her proudest moments look a little different. It’s when women arrive at an event specifically looking for Linda because they can’t wait to see what she’s curated next. It’s seeing customers return wearing jewellery or accessories they purchased from her previously — and hearing how much they still love them. It’s becoming someone’s trusted person for styling, thoughtful gifts and that perfect finishing touch. Those relationships are among the greatest compliments Linda could receive.
The Women Who Keep Her Inspired
Linda says the women she meets every day continue to inspire her. Helping someone discover something that makes her smile never gets old. She’s also continually inspired by women entrepreneurs she meets through networking communities, including MAWB.
While Linda doesn’t identify one particular mentor, surrounding herself with passionate and creative businesswomen reminds her to continue learning, growing and pursuing new ideas. It has also reinforced something she strongly believes: It’s never too late.
Her personal mantra is to believe in yourself, trust your instincts, embrace lifelong learning and don’t allow fear to prevent you from taking that first step. Because sometimes the opportunity you’ve been waiting for is sitting just outside your comfort zone.
And on the Difficult Days? Tea Helps.
Entrepreneurship has wonderful days. It also has days when things don’t go according to plan. On those days, Linda chooses hope. She reminds herself that the sun will rise again tomorrow. She takes a moment to breathe. She reflects on the good she’s accomplishing. And, naturally, she enjoys a cup of tea.

The encouragement of her customers, small acts of kindness and her belief that brighter days are ahead help her reconnect with why she started.
Christmas, Creativity & the Beauty of Little Details
There is another side of Linda that fits perfectly with her boutique. She’s a December baby — and she absolutely loves Christmas. The twinkling lights. Beautifully wrapped presents. Festive music. Elegant tables. And, most importantly, bringing people together.
Linda also has a keen eye for detail and believes the smallest touches can often make the biggest difference.
Whether she’s transforming a room, styling an outfit, preparing Afternoon Tea or creating a thoughtful gift, Linda finds joy in helping people notice and celebrate beauty in everyday life.
Linda’s Advice to Other Women in Business
After everything she’s learned building and reinventing her business, Linda’s advice to another entrepreneur comes back to one word:
Authenticity. “Don’t try to be like everyone else.”
Listen to your customers. Build genuine relationships. Stay true to your values. Be consistent. And truly care about the people you serve. Those are the things that build trust — and Linda believes trust is ultimately what grows a business.
Perhaps her most important message is the one that began her own entrepreneurial journey: Believe in yourself. “You are far more capable than you think, and the life you’ve imagined may be just one courageous step away.”
Discover The Travelling TeaRoom Boutique
Linda’s dream is for The Travelling TeaRoom Boutique to become a destination women seek out not simply because they want to shop, but because they know they’ll find beauty, inspiration and a warm welcome.
A place to find the perfect piece of jewellery. A beautiful handbag. A meaningful gift. A favourite tea. Or perhaps just a little inspiration.
Because behind every collection is Linda’s belief that every woman deserves to feel seen, appreciated and celebrated. And that might be the most beautiful thing she’s curated of all.
