Bullet Journaling, Presented by Amber Dinda

Have you ever heard of Bullet Journaling?  Have you ever wondered “What exactly is that?”  This thought has crossed my mind many times. I always thought it was a way to manage your business, and I couldn’t figure out why you couldn’t just use a regular, pre-printed agenda. It just seems like a lot less work.  I went into this workshop, facilitated by Amber Dinda of Par-T-Perfect event planners, with no expectations, simply because I had no idea what to expect.

It turns out that Bullet Journaling serves many purposes, and it is about so much more than organizing your day. It’s about organizing your life as a big picture, not just on a day-to-day basis; it’s about visually tracking in the long term things you want to keep track of for your life; it’s a creative outlet; it’s for setting goals and objectives and tracking progress; it is entirely personalized to what is important to you.

We were given these great notebooks as part of our welcome package and we used them for this workshop. Amber had all kinds of supplies for us to use: coloured markers, pens, graph paper (for tracking daily progress), scissors, scrapbooking papers and shapes, and stencils. Once she had gone through her presentation and shown us the pages in her personal bullet journal, we were let loose to create.

It was really interesting to see everyone’s different approach to the project. Some people just dug right in, coloured markers to paper, while others, like myself, took a more measured, planned approach. I used a pencil to write down all the things I wanted to include in my journal on my index page, and then I cut out all of the things that would help me create my journal pages and stores them in my book for later assembly.  What does it say about me that I have to have a detailed plan to be creative? Hmmmm…
The workshop was really informative, and I think everyone had a lot of fun. If you want to learn more about Bullet Journaling, I suggest you contact Amber Dinda and arrange a coffee date, for this and so many other reasons. And I will leave you with some final words of wisdom from Amber:  Do not look up Bullet Journaling in Pinterest!
