The MAWB is Celebrating Women’s History Month!
The MAWB is celebrating Women’s History Month, and that is reflected in this month’s Instagram Calendar. Celebrating Women of Influence, working moms, woman-owned businesses, and, of course, International Women’s Day, we have a lot of bases covered.
In March, we also see the clocks change for Daylight Savings time, St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of spring, and, for the fans out there, baseball’s season openers.
Women’s History Month
The international theme for the month of March is Women’s History Month, and we are making a point of acknowledging women and the roles we play, and have played, in business and in history. International Women’s Week starts on March 5th, with International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8th. Make sure to find some IWD celebrations in your area and highlight them in your social media and celebrate yourself and your business. (Of note, the MAWB is holding an International Women’s Day luncheon at Turtle Jack’s at Erin Mills Town Centre on March 8th; you can register for that here.) The theme for International Women’s Day this year is #EmbraceEquity, so strike the pose and post your selfie with the Hashtag. From the International Women’s Day website: “Equity isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA. And it’s critical to understand the difference between equity and equality. When we embrace equity, we embrace diversity, and we embrace inclusion. We embrace equity to forge harmony and unity, and to help drive success for all. Equality is the goal, and equity is the means to get there. Through the process of equity, we can reach equality.”
“Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn’t be that women are the exception.” ― Ruth Bader Ginsburg
