Welcome to the MAWB August 2022 Instagram Content Calendar! This year the month of August has two themes: Black Business Month and Back to School. We have incorporated ways for you to celebrate these themes in the calendar, while also highlighting your business. There are also other national and international theme days highlighted throughout the month, and they’re a fun way to add content that showcases more of your personality, not just your business.
Remember, the point of social media is to be social, not just sell. You want your audience to get to know you! If you would like to include more of these national “holidays”, you can get access to this information and more through RIPL. (RIPL is a social media marketing tool for small businesses that provides content ideas, social media and video templates, scheduling tools, and more.)
To the left of the calendar there is a section for Goal Setting. You can use this space for listing multiple goals, writing a summary about a main goal and how to achieve it, or listing your #hashtags for the month.

You can also create a theme for yourself for the month to link your posts together.
Remember to be personable, fun, and creative. Share who you are, not just what you do. Mix it up—post videos, gifs, carousel posts*, and single images. Use photos you took yourself along with stock imagery. (Remember when using stock imagery to give photo credit if required!) There are several websites that offer quality free images, including Pixabay, Unsplash and Pexels.
*An Instagram carousel is a post containing more than one photo or video, which users can view by swiping left on a post through the phone app. Desktop users can view a carousel post by clicking on the arrow button on the right of a post. Think of it as a slideshow of posts that users can control manually. Canva offers many Instagram carousel templates. Here is an example from Canva. And here is an example from our MAWB library:
